A New Visionary is on the Horizon for Voinjama District, Lofa County
Liberia (Voinjama District, Lofa County):
A co-founder of the Lofa Youth for Progressive Action (LOYPA), a local NGO base in Lofa County and also the current Managaer of Human Resources at the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), Mr. Fobay F. Dorbor has been petitioned and endorsed by citizens of Voinjaman District in Lofa County to contest as Representative for that district.
According to Mr. Fobay F. Dorbor, his petition comes in the wake of his numerous support and concerns for the people of Lofa County, especially the pivotal role he played in harmonizing the recent crisis which occurred due to tribal/religious clash between muslim-madingos and some faction within the Lorma ethnic group, after discovering the corpse of a missing non-Muslim female student in Konia, Lofa County.
The incident sparked a chaotic unrest which lasted for several days and left dozens of homes, schools, mosques, business centers and churches vandalized in Voinjama City. And at least two persons were killed while several others got seriously wounded and displaced.
This is when one of Fobay F. Dorbor's many humanitarian gestures was manifested through his prompt response in sending relief items to some victims of the crisis and also helping to harmonize the situation.
Also, Mr. Dorbor maintains that, his primary objective, upon being elected representative of Voinjama District, is to follow up on the situation until a peace pipe is smoked by the parties involved and that, he will spear head programs aimed at restoring a peaceful co-existence between all ethnic groups within the district.
Profile of Mr. Fobay F. Dorbor
Fobay F. Dorbor was born unto the blessed union of Alfred Falayelah Dorbor and Kulubor Kubah, both deceased, in Voinjama City, Lofa County on July 12, 1961. His father, a native of Voinjama District served as General Town Chief of Voinjama City and Paramount Chief of the Bondi Wubormai Chiefdom, Voinjama District, Lofa County. Fobay F. Dorbor is currently the Human Resource Manager of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). He is legally married with six dependents.
During the formation of the NTGL, Fobay F. Dorbor represented the youth of Lofa County along with a four man delegation including the late Weedor Torlo-Teigli, former Chairlady of Lofa County Rural Women Association, escorted the then Superintendent, Hon. Fallah Shelloe to begin civil administration in Lofa County.
Fobay F. Dorbor is schooled in leadership and peace building, and as a manifestation of this, he helped to organize the Lofa Youth for Progressive Action (LOYPA) a local NGO group and became the first Project Manager between 2003 to 2005 where he created job opportunities to hundreds of youths without discrimination in the County.
He was among visionaries sons and daughters of Lofa who planned, organized and successfully executed the Lofa County Home Coming in December 2009, which brought together Lofans from all walks of life in Voinjama to discuss socio-political and economic issues and crafted a resolution on December 25, 2009 making it an annual event.
As a result of his numerous contributions including consistent assistance to individual students as well as student groupings, Fobay F. Dorbor was petitioned by citizens of Voinjama District to contest the seat of Representative for the District come 2011 Presidential and Legislative Elections.
